Science Fair Log Book

Your log book should be in a composition notebook, not a spiral bound.  The reason for the composition book is the fixed binding.  You should not tear pages out of your composition book if you make mistakes.   On the cover should be the following:  Your project, your name, your grade and teacher, and Dayspring Academy.  This should be written in ink or Sharpie Marker.  On the inside of your of your log book you should keep track of your entire project, think of it as a diary or journal.   The first thing you should have in here is your research plan.  All of this must be in pen not pencil or erasable pen.  Please do not use liquid paper to correct mistakes, or tear out the pages.  Mistakes are part of science and are ok, in fact the judges like to see this because it shows that you are learning.  If you make a mistake simply use a single line and cross it out.  If your procedures change, just write in the new ones indicating why you changed them.  Again this is supposed to be a "rough draft" not a finished copy.   When ever you do anything with this project you should indicate what you did and the date you did it.   This should also be where you write down the results of your projects while they are happening.  If you want you can organize it better in the pages after the entries.  Your rough draft of your research paper should also be done in here.  This keeps all of your work neatly bound and in one place.  This needs to be in the pocket on the front of your board on the night of the Science Fair.
